What was the Problem ?

Social media is now a primary source of health information for many individuals, particularly in underserved communities. However, content creators often lack the tools and resources to translate complex, evidence-based health information into accessible and engaging formats suitable for social media platforms. As a result, inaccurate or misleading health content, often not grounded in peer-reviewed sources, spreads rapidly and disproportionately harms the health outcomes of underserved populations, who may have limited access to traditional, reliable sources of medical information.

Target Users and Pain Points

Target Users :

  • Therapists and small business owners building a digital presence for their health practice

  • Experienced health communicators producing highly researched, fact-checked content for diverse audiences

What was the Vision?

An AI-powered content creation tool that helps health and wellness content creators generate engaging, fact-based content effortlessly by streamlining research, ensuring accuracy, and adapting to their personal tone of voice.

What was the Proposed Solution ?

The product is an AI-powered desktop web platform equipped with a browser extension arm that helps content creators streamline their research process and create verified content catered to their audience. The team took an agile approach and developed  a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) for first iteration, paving the way for expanding the MVP to become the full product. This was particularly beneficial in ensuring the product built continued to meet the needs of the users and Science To Peoples objectives continuously. The following outlines the proposed solution for the MVP :
The Desktop Web Platform:

  • It includes a content creation studio where users are able to easily adapt fact-based, verified content to match their tone of voice.

  • It connects with scholarly sources using APIs to provide creators easy access to peer-reviewed, up-to-date information

  • It includes an AI-model fine-turned by Science to People and trained in science communication best practices

The Browser Extension

  • It is a research companion that integrates into the creator’s workflow as they conduct research before content creation.

  • It is both a placeholder for researchers and a translator that can assist them in understanding the complicated research material.

  • It is a complementary extension of the web platform, but still provides value to the user on it’s own.

The Relationship between the Desktop Web Platform + Browser Extension:
While the Browser Extension provides significant value to the users in their research journey, the full value to the user is unlocked in the Desktop Web Platform. The Platform + Extension are complimentary to each other, connected via features. The Extension will encourage the user to go to the Platform for deeper insights and analysis.
Current connecting feature :
Items bookmarked in the Extension will be sent to the Desktop Web Platform Platform for deep research and insights. This is where the users can view deeper insights about their bookmarked materials.

How was the Solution Prioritized ?

Multiple rounds of prioritization were conducted using the MoSCoW framework to align feature and requirement decisions with both client priorities and user needs. This approach ensured the development of a high-impact Minimum Viable Product (MVP). To guide these decisions, clear product tenets were established and used as the core criteria for MVP prioritization, as outlined below.

How was the Proposed Solution Validated ?

Eight diverse content creators including writers, marketers, and bloggers participated in remote usability testing and interviews. Each participant interacted with both prototypes using a think-aloud protocol to capture real-time insights. In-depth post-test interviews were conducted to gather comparative feedback. Quantitative data from Maze analytics and qualitative insights from Dovetail analysis were synthesized to inform the next iteration of the product.

What was the Roadmap ?

A roadmap was developed showing the path from Minimum Viable Product 3 (MVP3) to MMP and beyond. MVP3 marks the beginning of the partnership between Science to People and Techfleet. Each phase indicates four two-week sprints. The work discussed here constitutes Phase 1 of the project.
